When Hexnode is the right call

If your estate is Apple-heavy — iPhones and iPads for staff, Apple TVs in meeting rooms, maybe visionOS on the horizon — Hexnode covers ground Infronest simply does not. The same goes for Fire OS tablets and Android TV signage. No consolidation argument beats a platform gap: if those devices are your fleet, stay.

Migrating from Hexnode to Infronest

The honest starting point for any UEM-to-UEM move: enrolments do not transfer. Management trust is per vendor, so every device leaving Hexnode re-enrols into Infronest. What you migrate is knowledge — inventory, app lists, policy intent — not the enrolment itself. Treat the move as a staged rollout with a parallel-run period, and it is routine; treat it as a weekend cutover and it will hurt.

Plan around the platform rules: Windows, macOS and Linux machines unenrol and install the Infronest agent without a wipe, while fully managed (Device Owner) Android devices need a factory reset to change owner. If part of your Hexnode estate is Apple mobile or TV — iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs — those stay behind: Infronest does not manage iOS, iPadOS or tvOS today, so scope the migration to the platforms both products share.

  1. Export the device inventory, installed-app reports and policy configuration from the Hexnode console — your migration record and audit evidence.
  2. Decide the scope honestly: Windows, macOS, Linux and Android move to Infronest; any iOS/iPadOS, tvOS or Fire OS devices need a retained tool.
  3. Rebuild policies in Infronest — restrictions, Wi-Fi, app allow/block, compliance rules — and validate them on a pilot batch of 10–20 devices for a week or two.
  4. Re-enrol in batches by department or site: agent install on desktop OSes, Device Owner provisioning on Android (fully managed devices need a scheduled factory reset).
  5. Run Hexnode and Infronest in parallel until each batch reports healthy; export any compliance or audit history you need before Hexnode seats lapse — historical data does not migrate.
  6. Cut over, decommission Hexnode, and keep the exports with your change records.
